Abstract

The mean chiasma frequency at first metaphase of meiosis in pollen mother cells of a maize variety, Black Mexican Sweet Corn, increases with increasing number ofB-chromosomes. The increased chiasma frequency is also reflected by a decrease in the number of rod bivalents at first metaphase.
