Abstract

The order-disorder type structural phase transition in the La-based cuprate superconductors and its influence on superconductivity, in particular on the isotope effect, is studied theoretically. The temperature dependence of the susceptibility of the strong anharmonic local mode driving the structural transition gives rise to the sign change of its derivative and therefore to a jump in the isotope effect in the vicinity of the temperature of the structural phase transition.
