Abstract

One of interactions of young active stars with interstellar gas is excitation of shock waves, that compress the gas and favour the formation of new generation of stars. Thus, a positive feedback between stellar and gaseous constituents is realized. When spread from point to point this interaction gives rise to a stationary wave of star formation. The properties of such a wave are analyzed both in homogeneous and clumped media.
