Abstract

A new practice area for family therapy is described. The Individualized Family Service Plan, a component of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part H, a program for children (birth through two) with disabilities and their families is outlined. Three phases of the IFSP process are discussed along with specific recommendations for working with families in each phase. Suggestions for involvement of family therapists in each phase are presented.
