Abstract

An indirect method of measuring JBH has been proposed. The geminal and vicinal J BH values were determined in some organoboron compounds from the line broadening in 1H and 11B spectra resulting from the quadrupole 11B relaxation. The 3 J BH cis and 3 J BH trans values are different just as 3 J BH trans an 3 J BH cis in some alkoxyvinylboranes and 3 J BH trans are larger than 3 J BH tcis This method was found to be applicable in some boron-nitrogen containing compounds (complexes of triallylborane with amines) in which 14N quadrupole relaxation and chemical exchange do not affect the 11B and 1H NMR line width. The restrictions of the method were established and demonstrated for some m models.
