Abstract

The intensity of the F center emission in KCl is reduced by simultaneous irradiation of 1.06 µm pulse from an Nd:YAG laser, whose second harmonic pulse is used for the F excitation. The reduction is related to the stimulated emission in the relaxed excited state of the F center. The cross section of the stimulated emission is estimated to be 4.0×10 -17 cm 2 at 80K.
