Abstract

This chapter discusses the implications of the evidence presented in the book. First, it emphasizes the significance of transnational perspectives to examine Internet histories. Specifically, it shows how a transnational approach invites a reconsideration of established traditions in the historical analysis of the Internet. Second, it argues that processes of technological integration examined in the book remain an unfinished project. The book concludes by showing how the history of the Internet in Central America helps to think about present issues, such as the uneven access to computer networks and its implications of understanding the development of the region.
