The in vitro viability, steroidogenic, and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) secretory capacity of human luteinized granulosa cells after GnRH agonist trigger

Abstract

GnRH agonist trigger to prevent OHSS leads to early corpus luteum (CL) demise. Since the functional capacity of luteinized granulosa cells influences the viability of the CL, we compared the viability and functional competence of these cells obtained from patients undergoing IVF triggered with either leuprolide acetate (LA) or hCG. The study aims were to evaluate the rate of apoptosis as well as the steroid and VEGF secretion from cultured luteinized granulosa cells with or without the addition of hCG.
