Abstract

SummaryBracken-dominated hill pasture was treated with combinations of bracken and pasture herbicides and two reseeding techniques against a background of fertilization and liming. Picloram and dicamba gave high levels of bracken control and reduced carbohydrate levels in the rhizome. Both paraquat or reseeding with minimal cultivations increased yield of digestible organic matter by reducing competition from native weed grass species and promoting better establishment of ryegrass.
