Abstract

The noncovalent recombination between heavy and light polypeptide chains of human immunoglobulin G was studied using a Bence‐Jones protein and a fragment representing its N‐terminal half. Under the conditions employed there is about 33% recombination of heavy chain with the Bence‐Jones protein to form 7 S molecules, and no recombination with the fragment. The results are discussed in view of the variability of light chains and its relation to the antibody site.
