Abstract

The article deals with the features of the European system of human rights protection. It has been established that the European system of human rights protection includes two main groups of international legal instruments: international legal acts (documents) and international bodies that protect these rights. In the first group, the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and its Protocols are of paramount importance. The European Court of Human Rights is undoubtedly the main international body in the European system of human rights protection. The legal positions justified in ECtHR decisions are integral to the Convention and are important not only for the parties to the case, but also play a highest role in the formulation and development of human rights protection mechanisms.
