Abstract

Recovery of Rous sarcoma virus (RSV) from chicken embryo fibroblasts exposed to DNA from RSV transformed rat cells (XC cells) was successful only after shearing the large molecular weight DNA. Transfection was demonstrated after a single exposure of chicken cells to the DNA, and was achieved as well in chf-negative chicken embryo cells.
