Abstract
A structured, seventeen parameter model describing hyaluronic acid fermentation was analysed using a transient sensitivity analysis to determine the degree to which uncertainty in model parameters effected model error in both the transient and steady state case. Overall, significant information regarding model sensitivity to parameters was found to be observable only during transient dynamics. Specifically, with regards to the hyaluronic acid fermentation, significantly large uncertainty was found in those parameters associated with nitrogen metabolism; their transient effect was most significant during conditions of nitrogen substrate limitation.
