Abstract

Described in this paper is a simple method for optimization of separations in reversed-phase liquid chromatography using ternary solvents. The graphical procedure is based on the linearity of the plots of log k′ against solvent composition. This relationship was found to depend critically both on the relative composition of the binary solvents used to prepare the ternary mixtures and the method chosen for dead volume determination.
