Abstract
This chapter discusses implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CPRD) into domestic law in the light of the development of economic and social rights. The focus is on the categorization/classification of human rights. The influence of classification of rights in the human rights approach is discussed and how the development of the framework of human rights in general affects the implementation of the new Convention. The Convention's approach to the classification will be looked at and an effort made to analyse the development of this approach during the drafting of the Convention. Finally the influence of the classification of rights on the implementation of the Convention is discussed and examples given from the judgments of The Icelandic Supreme Court in cases concerning the rights of persons with disabilities.
