Abstract

This research is motivated by the results of previous studies which formulated that Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) that adopt the concept of social entrepreneurship will be able to survive in the future because they have a clear core business platform. They are not only playing a role in education, but are also able to contribute in the community economic empowerment. This research will be focused on a case study in Al-Muhajirin Islamic Boarding School in Purwakarta, West Java, Indonesia through using a descriptive-analytical method and qualitative approach. The sources of the data are obtained from various relevant literatures, observations, and interviews with the informants related to the implementation of the concept of social entrepreneurship empowerment based on Islamic values in Islamic Boarding School. The data collection techniques are obtained from book review, documentation, interview, and they are analyzed deductively and inductively. The result of this study indicates that the Al-Muhajirin Islamic Boarding School has succeeded in implementing the concept of social entrepreneurship in its management and governance, able to produce independent graduates, and also has contributed positively in improving the economic welfare of the surrounding community.
