Abstract

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) were developed for military purposes such as unmanned reconnaissance and surveillance. Due to recent advances in technology, it has been diversified into civilian (aerial photography, leisure) and special mission products. In the UAV flight control system (FCS), a flight control engine for waypoint flight, a signal processing engine for processing vast amounts of information from various sensors such as gyroscopes, accelerometers, GPS, image sensors and radar sensors and a wireless communication modem for connect with the ground station are installed separately. Such drone electronic modules are inefficient in terms of weight, cost and power consumption. In this paper, we implement SoC (System-on-Chip) for FCS for ultra-lightweight and low power consumption of flight control system and present the results of integrated Command/Control and Down Link (C2DL) modem implementation.
