Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effects of alveolar ridge augm entation by using dense polycrystal particulate hydroxyapatite(HA) in dental implant. Methods 26 alveolar ridges with alveolar bone loss has increased alveolar bone quantity by doing alveolar ridge augmentation before dental implants are implanted. By the same way, 6 alveolar ridges used submucous-perio steal tunnel. Results All the 26 dental implants were successful after doing alveolar ridge augmentation for 3.2 months. The implanted HA did not move or diffuse, and it was strongly combined with base bone.Of the 6 alveolar ridges using submucous-periosteal tunnel method of HA implantation, 5 dental I mplants were successful, and 1 was failed after 4.8 months. By this way, the implanted HA moved and diffused on some degree. It was mainly surrounded the base bone by fibrous tissue and a small part of new bone grew into base bone. Conclusion By doing alveolar ridge augmentation, the indication of dental implant can be greatly extended, its course of treatment is shortened and its success rate is increased .
