Abstract

An area of low pressure over the southern North Sea, named Storm Odette by the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium, produced an extended period of disruptive winds, exceptional rainfall and notably cold temperatures to parts of the United Kingdom between 24–26 September 2020. Several sites recorded their coldest September daily maximum temperature on record, while parts of Norfolk experienced one of the longest duration of gales to affect the area during the past 30 years.
