Abstract

Diabetes and obesity have emerged as significant global health challenges, sparking extensive research aimed at finding effective solutions. Among the various approaches investigated, the plant-based diet has garnered attention due to its potential for superior outcomes, convenience, and cost-effectiveness. Plant-based diets, characterized by their reliance on plant-derived foods and exclusion of animal products, emphasize minimally processed ingredients. These diets have gained popularity for their capacity to manage weight and, notably, their effectiveness in blood sugar control, which is beneficial for individuals with diabetes. This article will examine influence of plant-based diets on diabetes and related health issues based on existing studies and data. This investigation focuses on five main impacts of plant-based diets: blood sugar stabilization, enhanced insulin sensitivity, decreased inflammation, efficient obesity management, and favorable changes in gut flora. The findings highlight the potential of plant-based diets as viable solutions for improving the overall health and well-being of diabetics.
