Abstract

In this paper we investigate the nonlinear dynamics of a DNA chain affected by the damping associated with the viscosity of a solvent. The dynamics of the DNA chain is described by the Peyrard-Bishop extended model for breather-like coherent excitations. We show that a bell shaped soliton exists in the DNA chain when the viscosity is taken into account instead of a breather soliton when the viscosity is neglected.
