Abstract
The concept of turnround costs, which include airport-related charges, handling costs and the cost of fuel, is introduced and their importance to airlines explained. The costs of turning aircraft around at five tourist destinations, Antalya, Fuerteventura, Funchal, Larnaca and Rhodes, are illustrated. The variation in costs at these airports is found to be very significant. The quality of service available at each airport is discussed. The impact of the turnround costs on the cost of inclusive tours is analysed.
