Abstract

The article analyzes the legislative initiatives of the US Congress regarding China, reveals the impact of structural and procedural changes initiated by the Congress, which had led to a deterioration in Sino-American relations during the Trump administration. The content of individual legislative acts adopted by Congress reflects the key issues and direction of the United States policy to limit the influence of the PRC and break bilateral ties. The author identifies the key problems of the deterioration of bilateral relations in recent years, and analyzes the key persons, structures and procedures created by the Congress in the logic of the “crusade” against China. The author argues that the current US administration under Joe Biden will continue the policy of containing the PRC that is leading to an aggravation of tensions between the United States and the PRC.
