Abstract

This written work follows the author through the connection between identity, body image, and eating, both from a reflective personal point of view, as well as a more general view of the construction of image ideals and the impact it has on those the gaze is aimed towards. The chapter follows three main subsections: identities and norms, gaze and bodies, and the impact of food. All together, these three sections work to form one main body of work, which strives to explore the impact society has on the body ideals associated with trans identities, and how these have impacted the authors life, for better or for worse.
