Abstract

ABSTRACT Objectives: 1) describe medical treatment performance and 2) investigate the changing patterns of medical treatment performance in some provinces in Vietnam during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. Methods: A retrospective descriptive study of secondary data was conducted by using secondary data from The District Health Information Software, a reporting platform operated by the Vietnam Ministry of Health. Result: A significantly declining trend in patterns of medical treatment activities was observed during the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak, and most utilization measures have not returned to their pre-outbreak levels as of January 2021. The incidence rate ratio (IRR) was 0.99, that is, if one more COVID case was found in the community /100,000 population, the number of medical treatment activities would be significantly reduced by 0.1% with p<0,01. Conclusion: This study emphasizes the need to strengthen the health system's preparedness capability to cope with the pandemic and future disasters. Keywords: COVID-19, impact, medical treatment activities
