The impact of serum and faecal chitinase 3-like 1 level on endothelial dysfunction in a population of community-dwelling Japanese

Abstract

Background and Aims: Chitinase 3-like 1 (CHI3L1) is one of intestinal inflammatory markers with relation to inflammatory bowel disease. Moreover, CHI3L1 is secreted from a variety of human cells, such as vascular smooth muscle cells and plays a role in angiogenesis. To investigate the association between serum and faecal CHI3L1 levels and other atherosclerotic parameters were measured in a general population.
