Abstract

This retrospective study has multiple aims: 1) to identify the overall effects of total number of medications, category of medications, and specific medications on stimulated whole salivary (SWS) flow and unstimulated whole salivary (UWS) flow in Sjögren’s (SS) and non-Sjögren’s Syndrome (NSS) patients; 2) to analyze the effects of concurrent systemic diseases on SWS and UWS flow in both groups; 3) to analyze the role of all other variables, such as age, sex, alcohol, tobacco, and vital signs on SWS and UWS. We hypothesized that as the number of medications increase, UWS and SWS flow rates will decrease.
