Abstract

The purpose of this pilot project was to integrate Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) safety competency teaching strategies in first-semester associate degree in nursing (ADN) students and evaluate student learning outcomes. A pretest–posttest design measured the students' perception of safety awareness. Results suggest a strong correlation between didactic and clinical instruction of QSEN safety competency teaching strategies to enhance students' awareness of safety, thus fostering quality patient care.
