Abstract
The European Groundshot—addressing Europe's cancer research challenges: a Lancet Oncology Commission by Mark Lawler and colleagues,1 which addresses Europe's cancer research challenges, has outlined how collaborative research is vital to ensure rapid improvement in cancer care from early diagnosis to precise application of therapies. Data sharing ensures research robustness, adequate datasets for statistically significant results, economies of scales and cost-effective approaches through data reuse and enhancement, and ultimately expedites the validation and implementation of research findings.
