Abstract
Rationale: Gastrostomy feeding is commonly used to support patients with dysphagia requiring artificial nutritional support. However, its effect on the lives of patients is not well understood. The aim of the systematic review is to review studies that assess the impact of gastrostomy, in terms of the benefits and challenges presented by gastrostomy feeding by assessing qualitative evidence. We also analysed quantitative evidence, in terms of complications and mortality, and tools which assess the needs of patients post-gastrostomy.
