Abstract

This article utilizes the panel data of 31 cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2003-2018 to construct a panel model and empirically studies the impact of FDI on the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The results show that FDI has a positive role in promoting high-quality development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt in the total sample regression. In subsample regressions, the role of FDI in promoting high-quality development in the upper, middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is not the same. Based on this, local governments in different regions should propose different foreign direct investment policies according to local conditions to promote economic transformation and upgrading.
