Abstract
The main purpose of this empirical research was to investigate the relationship between the extrinsic and intrinsic rewarding system on employee motivation on a leading apparel company in Sri Lanka. The research design includes mono method quantitative methodology. Data were gathered through 400 employees in the selected apparel company in Sri Lanka through a self-administrated questionnaire. The major findings of this study indicated that there was a strong positive influence from the job promotion variable on employee motivation which is a major extrinsic reward. The study contributed to identify the employee motivational factors in the selected company and to reduce current labour turnover ratio by identifying the factors which motivate the current workforce. The conceptual framework of the study is developed by the author based on the previous literature.
