Abstract

Given the scarcity of academic research in the environmental management field, particularly in the hotel industry, this study aims to investigate the impact of environmental management practices on the perceived performance of hotels. For this purpose, we conducted a survey of a sample of 45 managers from 4- and 5-star Tunisian hotels. The findings of this study are as follows: (1) Only basic environmental practices (as opposed to the advanced environmental practices) are adopted by the surveyed hotels; and (2) only basic practices are positively and significantly related to the two dimensions of perceived performance, namely competitive performance and stakeholder satisfaction.
