Abstract

In this study we explore the impact of historical developments in the macro-environment, with a special focus on legislation and health education, on the perceptions of smoking and cigarette consumption in Poland. To evaluate the result of these changes today, we analyzed a blog where Polish smokers explain why they still smoke. The results indicate that smoking motivations are changing in response to anti-smoking education, research, legislation, and increased prices of cigarettes in Poland.
