Abstract

This article reports on a research project that used four focus groups and a Web-based survey to determine the impact of digital information resources on the roles of collection managers in research libraries in five major English-speaking countries. The study found that while the actual responsibilities of respondents varied, the levels of responsibility and time spent on activities related to digital resources have generally increased compared to 5 years ago, and those for nondigital resources either have increased marginally, stayed the same, or gone down. Strong increases in consortia-related work featured prominently in the survey.
