Abstract
9529 Background: Delirium is the most frequent neuro-psychiatric complication in patients with advanced cancer. The frequency of DR and its impact on P and CG distress level are not well understood. Method: In this exploratory study, we included inpatient with advanced cancer who completely recovered from an acute delirium episode within 3 days (Memorial Delirium Assessment Scale <13), and their CG who were at bedside during delirium. The Delirium Experience Questionnaire was conducted in P. In addition, we assessed recall of specific delirium symptoms and related distress in P, CG, bedside nurse (RN) and palliative care specialist (PCS). Results: A total of 99 P/CG dyads participated in the study. Delirium subtype included hypoactive (20%), hyperactive (13%) and mixed (67%).
