Abstract

[Increasing rates of maternal employment in recent decades has created the need for expanded day-care programs for children. Presently, the impact of the day-care experience is far from clear, especially for children of pre-school age. This paper will present the research findings focusing on the impact of day-care on the pre-school chilcl's intellectual, emotional, and social development, as well as on the child's family system. The implications of the research are discussed and areas of further research exploration are suggested].
