Abstract

AbstractChinese Premier Xi Jinping’s ambitious project was announced in the end of 2013 to amalgamate Silk Road Economic Belt and Maritime Silk Road, termed as Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). China has developed projects in Asia to facilitate trade and investment. BRI represents a chance for increased trade, investment, and job creation for the Asian economies. The purpose of the research is to examine the potential influence of BRI on the growth of Asian economies that are located along the corridors. Panel data regression is applied for the sample period 2009 to 2020 with economic growth as the dependent variable and exports, imports, financial development, political stability, corruption, infrastructure, and distance along with BRI dummy as independent variables.KeywordsBelt and Road InitiativeFinancial developmentBilateral trade ChinaAsian economies
