Abstract

In Norway ample ice production was possible every year, but regular ice exporting was restricted to areas with low winter temperatures, particularly from parts of East Norway. The demand for ice fluctuated with air temperatures in the importing countries. While ice exporting to Great Britain increased continually until the turn of the century, ice exporting to Germany had a few dramatic peaks caused by mild winters.
