Abstract

Summary The effect of a single injection of sheep red cells into LAF1 adult mice on the capacity of spleen cells to produce an immune response in x-irradiated recipients has been studied, using the linear cell dose response assay obtained by adding normal bone marrow cells and the direct and indirect Jerne plaque techniques. By assaying the immune capacity of the spleen cells at frequent intervals the following changes were demonstrated: an initial fall, a marked logarithmic rise, a more modest rise, a second fall and then a rebound. A greater memory in the indirect plaque-forming cell system became apparent only after day 30.
