Abstract

We have previously reported Ca2+ influx through store-operated Ca2+ channels (SOCCs) in the mouse sino-atrial node (SAN). It is widely believed that the transient receptor potential canonical (TRPC) gene family encodes SOCC activity and that, of the seven identified TRPCs, TRPC1 is most likely related to SOCC activity. In the present study, we used immunohistochemistry to study the distribution of TRPC1 in whole-mount preparations of the SAN. The hyperpolarization-activated, cyclic nucleotide-gated cation channel and connexin 43, were used as a positive and a negative marker for central SAN, respectively.
