Abstract

Most surgeons immobilise cross arm flaps with the help of lengths of three-inch wide non-stretch adhesive strapping. In addition the writer often immobilises the forearms of restless patients at night by placing their arms in the cross-folded position and then wrapping an eight-inch wide piece of &” thick polyurethane foam around the forearms to keep them together, and placing adhesive strapping around the foam. A simpler and reliable way of immobilising these flaps is shown in the diagrams. The dressing should be firmly applied.
