Abstract

Saxifragites was described by Gagnepain in Not. Syst. 14: 34 (1950), in the same paper as the genera Arachnodes (= Phyllanthodendron Hemsl.) and Heterocalyx (_ Agrostistachys Dalz.), upon which I have commented in Kew Bull. 14: 469-472 (1960). The author referred Saxifragites to the Euphorbiaceae, and remarked that its affinity seemed to be with Chloradenia Baill. (= Cladogynos Zipp. ex Span.), in the Tribe Acalypheae. He described two species: S. annamicus, with var. obtusa, from Annam, and S. latifolius from Laos.
