Abstract

The article examines the identity of the Prime Minister of Iran in 1951-1953, M. Mosadegh, reflected in the secret diplomatic documents of the United States of America. The secret and top secret telegrams of American ambassadors transmitted to the US Secretary of State as part of attempts to resolve the crisis over Iranian oil are considered. The article analyzes the change in attitude towards the personality of the Prime Minister, which eventually resulted in the readiness of forceful intervention in the internal affairs of Iran. The respectful and restrained style of diplomatic correspondence and public attitude towards Mossadegh, preserved throughout the entire period of discussion of the AINK crisis, sharply contrasts with the real actions of the special services of the Great Powers that planned and implemented a forceful operation to change power in Iran.
