Abstract

Reaction between 2,6-(CF 3) 2C 6H 3Li (Ar′Li) and/or 2,4-(CF 3) 2C 6H 3Li (Ar″Li) and SbCl 3 has afforded a series of new antimony(III) derivatives, which have all been identified in solution by 19F NMR spectroscopy. The unusual compound Ar ′ Ar 2 ″ Sb has been isolated, and its crystal and molecular structures determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Ar ′ Ar 2 ″ Sb is only the second example of a compound containing three fluoroxyl ligands to be structurally characterised.
