Abstract

The major sterol of Enteromorpha intestinalis and Ulva lactuca has been identified as 28-isofucosterol. In addition, gas—liquid chromatography has indicated the presence of cycloartenol and 24-methylene cycloartanol in both algae and 24-ethylidene lophenol and 24-methylene lophenol in E. intestinalis.
