Abstract
This work is an extract from a doctoral thesis2 on the African diaspora in Germany. Since it was related to African diaspora churches as well as the wider community of the African diaspora, some material has been removed that is particularly relevant to the situation in Germany, as well as material, which dealt with technical issues about the origin of some of these stories on Joseph. As the title suggests, the work contests the fundamental (evangelical) teaching on Joseph in a number of these churches, as well as indicting some of the jaundiced approaches of the commentators who support some of these views.
