Abstract

The hyperfine structure of the $3p^{2}P_{\frac{3}{2}}$ state of ${\mathrm{Al}}^{27}$ has been measured by the atomic beam magnetic resonance method. The magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole interaction constants $a$ and $b$ have been found to be $a=94.25\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.04$ Mc/sec., $b=18.76\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.25$ Mc/sec.From these, the electric quadrupole moment of the nucleus has been calculated to be $Q=(0.156\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.003){10}^{\ensuremath{-}24}$ ${\mathrm{cm}}^{2}$.
