Abstract
The Petroleum Safety Authority, Norway has performed projects and audits related to human factors and the drillers’ and the wireline operators’ work situation. The purpose of this paper is to present the human performance model in drilling and wireline operations based on the experience and what was learnt from projects and audits. The human performance model is an analysis of what is involved in human performance. Human performance can be predicted but it requires an understanding of the human, the activity being performed, and the context in which it is performed. The paper presents specific challenges in a sensitive work environment that have a large potential to pose some serious threats to the health, safety integrity, and work performance efficiency.
