Abstract
The host genetic background is one of major factors which influence the different phenotypes between individuals infected Human Immunodeficiency Virus(HIV). It influences not only the susceptibility to HIV, but also the process of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) is a method which detect disease-related genes within genome-wide. Currently, there are 22 GWAS focus on HIV/AIDS and have found a number of susceptibility genes and loci which associated with HIV infection and AIDS progression. The results are important for studies the role of host genetic background in HIV infection, AIDS progression and vaccine research. The host genetic background of HIV/AIDS and associated GWAS are reviewed. Key words: HIV-1; AIDS; Host gene; GWAS
